Farm
Animals
2. Knowledge/Motor
skills: I got this idea from my Chinese teacher and the kids
really loved it. I drew a cow and pasted onto a cardboard. Then we
put milk into the surgical glove and poked a few holes. The children
took turns to milk the cow! I also bought milk for the children to taste. It was wonderful activity.
3. P.E
activity: We had farm animal relay in the class. The children
acted out different animals (horses, cow, pigs, donkeys...etc.) It
was a lot of fun and great workout for the teacher and the students!
4.
Arts and crafts: Pig noses and ears! The children love
pretending to be different animals. We made a pig's nose from the
paper cup and a simple pig's ears headband. The children looked
adorable and shared a lot of laughter looking at each other!
5.
Arts and crafts/ P.E: We made a craft of a horse head and
attached it to a long balloon and completed our stick horses. For P.E
class, you can have a horse relay with the stick horses. The children
can learn to gallop with their adorable stick horses. I also made a sword to go along with the horse. ^^
6.Science
experiment: I wanted the children to understand how farmers grown
crop/ food, so we used the celery sticks, water, food coloring and
paper cups to complete our experiment. Each child was handed a celery
stick and we placed them in the paper cups. Then we added water to
each cup and the children put food coloring inside the cups as well.
We observed as the celery sticks soaks up the colored water. The
children were fascinated by the result!
7.
Language Arts/knowledge: We made a chart about the Farm
animals. The students could learn about the sound the animals make,
the jobs of these animals, the food they eat as well as some fun
facts about these animals.
What the chart looked like when we finished!!
8. Arts and Crafts: We made cow from paper plates and let the children design their own facial expressions for the cows. Each one looked unique and the children had a lot of fun!!
9. Language Arts/ arts and crafts: Since we're teaching kids about farms this month, and the kids show a lot of interests in the scarecrow. We took some time to learn about why we have scarecrows on the farm and we also learned an adorable action song called "Dingle Dangle Scarecrow". Then we made the scarecrow craft. The steps were a bit complicated but the kids did great!
